CALTECH SPACE SOLAR POWER INITIATIVE

The Space Solar Power Initiative (SSPI) is an adaptive reuse of a World War II-era engineering research building into a modern, interdisciplinary research facility that merges satellite technology and sustainable energy systems. SSPI will develop the scientific and technological innovations necessary to enable a space-based solar power system. This initiative unites electrical engineers, applied physicists, and aerospace engineers in a cutting edge interdisciplinary laboratory space. In addition to highly specialized laboratories, the project also features engaging spaces that facilitate collaborative research.
