UCLA PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY BUILDING

Located in UCLA’s historic campus core, the Physics & Astronomy Building blends in with its neighbors in style and size, while providing a modern environment for teaching and research. Innovative structural design minimizes vibration throughout the building. Its 18 vibration-sensitive research laboratories are located on two subterranean levels; various sizes of departmental and campus teaching spaces – from a 40-seat classroom to a 180-seat lecture hall with a revolving stage – are located on the ground and second levels. The upper levels contain faculty offices, conferencing spaces, administrative areas and graduate student workstations. A third-level outdoor terrace serves as a social space. It connects to neighboring Knudsen Hall via a second-story walkway.
