In response to the events that took place mid-2020, CO felt the need to broaden diversity and inclusion initiatives to include justice and equity, creating a CO JEDI Task Force. It can no longer be ignored that racism exists, and CO’s mission is to dismantle systemic racism by taking decisive action and empowering marginalized voices.
Before CO designed a client’s new office space, the design team led the client through a Cultural Change Management process. Programming began with a Visioning Workshop, followed by crew meetings, during which the program and the characteristics of each space in the program were defined with increasing detail. SoCal NOMA introduced their first Virtual Summer Camp – a three day virtual program with classroom, assignments, exhibits, workshops and presentations. CO Architects participated mentoring minority children in architecture through this three-day virtual classroom.
