Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build 2018
By Parini Mehta and Jackie Rea
As architects, we have the ability to use our design to help shape the world. As community members, we are proud to be participants in Habitat for Humanity’s (H4H) Women Build 2018. Women Build encourages women to help families in need build strength, stability and independence.
The AIA Women in Architecture committee, whose goal is to empower and promote positive change for women in the field of architecture, organized a group of 25 architects and designers to participate in H4H’s Women Build Day in Pasadena. Members of the CO office took a day off from drawing and detailing healthcare projects to dig holes and plant landscape for a housing development intended for families in need.
This was one of the final steps in finishing this housing development, which will be dedicated to nine families in early June. It was an exciting opportunity to put on our work gloves and join hands with the community.
Women Build was an inspirational experience for us, and we feel grateful to be able to use our skills to give back to the community.
